September is the month for us to honor our Sea Cadets by hosting a spaghetti dinner for them. The Elks’ Lodge has been generous by again allowing the Cadets (and members of the council) to use the pool during the Social Hour.
    Traditionally, we have a table of assorted items from which the Cadets can choose. We usually have enough items for each Cadet to receive several. These items are donated by our members and it’s not too soon to begin gathering them. Suggestions: ball caps, soft drinks, tee shirts, cameras, phone cards, movie passes, fast food coupons, videos and CDs, games…anything a teenager (boy or girl) would like to have. Please donate to help make this a memorable evening for our Cadets by showing our support for them.
  Our dinner meeting will be held Thursday, 28 September at the Monterey Elks Lodge, 150 Mar Vista Drive. Social hour will begin at 6 PM, pool available for swimming, with dinner at 7 PM. Our speaker will be US Navy Lt. Chris Harris, instructor pilot with VFA 125.  The dinner entrée will be spaghetti. Price of each meal is $17. Please use the enclosed coupon to make your reservation(s) and make sure it reaches Lois (625-5113) by Monday, 25 September. Also, please plan to contribute something for our Cadets to take with them.
