Dining Out Commemorates Battle of Midway
The traditions of the Battle of Midway Dining Out — from pronouncement of the rules of the mess to the musical salute in memory of the naval crews whose bravery helped preserve our nation and democracy — provide an exceptional experience.
This year’s Dining Out will be held in the Naval Postgraduate School’s El Prado Room — once the famous Hotel Del Monte’s Bali Room prior to World War II and a recreation room during the war where young aviation cadets of the Del Monte Pre-Flight School shared a few brief moments of comaraderie and relaxation as they trained for air combat in the Pacific theatre. This is a truly fitting place to commemorate the Sailors and Marines who fought so valiantly at Midway in June 1942.
I hope you will make your reservations now and join us for this important evening. And, if possible, please consider sponsoring a Monterey High School Navy Junior ROTC student and help shape a new generation of young men and women who are dedicated to national service.
